Dear Members,
Dayan Westheim has just contacted me to inform me that our names, together with those of other Rabbonim, have been used in what appears to be a scam to raise tzedokoh.
No-one should donate a single penny to the so-called "KNM" charity [ imaginary Charity Commission number 1092085] which is not to be found on the Charity Commission website.
Two separate appeals have almost identical language [ "Please don't ignore my children's desperate pleas"] and identical spelling errors. One return envelope's address is 27 Old Gloucester Street London WC1N 3AX. The other is to a mythical Rabbi D L Cohne, Freepost RTRS-KKKX-SUBR, London N17 0QT.
All this leaves a very bad taste, and ruins genuine appeals. Investigations are under way.
In future please confirm with me the veracity of appeal letters bearing my name before you send off any tzedokoh money.
