This unique apartment with spectacular views across the valley is a 5 minute drive down to the local ski run in the picturesque village of La Chapelle d'Abondance. 20 minutes from the popular ski resort Chatel- a gateway to the vast Portes du Soleil ski area which runs between France and Switzerland with links to Avoriaz, Morgins, Champoussin and more. Runs are open in Chatel till mid- April. In the summer this beautiful area is great for mountain trekking, cycling and rafting - as well as driving and exploring the area around lake Le Mans, the French and Swiss Alps and even Italy, which is within driving distance for a day trip. La Chapelle d'Abondance is only an hour and a half from Geneva airport. The apartment is available all year round and to be let to a kosher or vegetarian family. Facilities The apartment which can sleep 6, consists of 2 identical studio flats combined to create a small open plan kitchen and living area (with a pull out sofa) on one side. On the other side there is a double bedroom with a spare kitchen. At each side there is a hallway with a set of bunks. There are no kosher restaurants there. You can however order meals from Chabad for 30 euros per meal (25 euros for students). You need to give them 1-2 days notice. Their details are on the Chabad website http://www.chabad.org/
There is a kosher shop/butcher opposite the shul. The address is Carrer de L'Avenir 29. The butcher doesn't sell cooked meat. I'm not sure how good the selection is at the shop but if I visit it when I'm there I'm happy to let people know when I get back! I have heard that there is a small selection in the department store El Cortes Ingles but I'm not sure if they still have that.
